Tarot & Oracle Card Reading Services

I have begun offering appointments for both tarot and oracle card readings. What is the difference between the two you ask? Well read on to find out!

Tarot

Tarot cards are a series of cards with various images on them. There are typically 78 cards, and they are divided into the Major & Minor Arcana.

The Major Arcana is made up of 22 cards, and it is what most people associate with tarot. It has cards with names like “The Fool” or “The Lovers” or “The World”. A good way to think about the Major Arcana is to view it as representing big concepts, themes, or events that are occurring in your life.

The Minor Arcana, on the other hand, is made up of 56 cards. These were actually the basis for our modern-day playing cards! The Minor Arcana is divided into 4 suits - Swords/Spears (Spades), Cups (Hearts), Wands (Clubs), and Pentacles/Coins (Diamonds). This half of the deck is more about the nitty-gritty details.

Oracle

Oracle decks are related to tarot decks, but there are a lot fewer rules for them. There is also a wide variety of uses, designs, features, etc.

More often than not, oracle decks are used more for self-reflection, or even just for fun. However, when you ask me to read them for you, I can act as a “translator” for you.

Common Misconceptions

  • Misconception: Tarot is evil and/or connected to the Devil/Satan/etc.

  • Correction: Tarot is not inherently evil at all, nor is it connected in any way to the Devil/Satan/etc. Now, there is one card in the Major Arcana that is called “The Devil”, but this is not usually referring to an evil entity. Instead, it’s typically more about something you’re tempted by. Some artists may choose to incorporate imagery that is inspired by the darker side of life, but that is specific to that deck and not a generalization of all decks.

  • Misconception: Tarot is used for predicting the future.

  • Correction: This is a bit of a tricky one. While movies, TV shows, stories, etc. all portray tarot as being used for predicting the future, this isn’t entirely true. I like to think of it as giving you a broader perspective on the path your life is currently taking. There is an element of “predicting the future” to it, but it’s more like saying “by following the path you are on currently, this is the likely outcome.” Keep in mind that the future is never set in stone; people have free will and can make whatever decisions they choose to.

  • Misconception: Are you able to connect with my loved one “on the other side”?

  • Correction: The kind of person who is able to connect with “the other side” is a medium. While it’s true that some mediums also read cards, just because someone is a card reader does not mean they are also a medium.
